Some Background….
#TLDR – Scroll to the “Want To Get Involved?” section below!
After going through the process of creating a status update for the Giving Care Plan, we wanted to find a way to engage with the broader health care community in New Hampshire and those included as a “Responsible Party” in the original Giving Care Plan to select priorities for 2025 that we at HealthForce can help steward. In September 2024, we launched a one-question survey asking participants to prioritize their top five strategies among 20 viable options.
Upon closing in late October 2024, the survey received 147 responses and ultimately we have five top strategies to prioritize exploring in 2025.

Results
In no particular order, those five strategies are:
- In areas of low housing availability/high cost, provide a housing allowance to staff for the first year as incentive.
- Support the existing system to provide healthcare career outreach to teenagers in high school through the development of internships, shadow days, career fairs, etc. Engage parents in healthcare career outreach to teenagers to provide education, guidance and support.
- Build alliances between community college programs and 4-year programs (public and private) to allow credits to fully transfer in all fields.
- Conduct a rapid regional comparison study of NH health care workforce compensation to inform alignment of compensation levels with neighboring states.
- Engage private and public payer markets to expand payment to cover essential services such as case management and community health workers.
Next Steps
For each of these we are creating a volunteer workgroup to explore each strategy – and we would love to have you involved! We anticipate having conversations among the workgroup participants, but also potentially inviting others in the relevant space / sector to join in specific conversations to help us answer questions like:
- What is currently being done?
- Who is involved in the work?
- Where (in the state, in in which sectors) is the work happening?
- Is there a role for us or others in health care to actively participate or take a leadership role?
- Is there value in sharing the work that’s being done?
- Are we able to broadly support or augment the work somehow?
- Are there additional resources needed to help advance the work? What are those resources?
- Is this strategy best tabled for another time in the future?
- And more TBD!
